FAUST EQ (HM-2 EQ)
FAUST EQ is based on the HM-2 EQ section with expanded and added features; 32 volts headroom, EQ blend, 12 frequency cut off rotary, 4 band internal EQ trim pots including; LOW, LOW-MID, HIGH-MID and HIGH. As an added feature the germanium diode noise gate and silicon hard clipping section from the original HM-2 has been included with an on/off toggle.
EQ - Utilizing a quad opamp for the EQ section allows for 4 individual gyrator EQ bands,
LOW, LOW-MID, HIGH-MID and HIGH. The original HM-2 EQ has the MID and HIGH EQ gyrators connected, this updated version separates these bands to allow for adjustment of the MID independently of the HIGH section. The LOW EQ range has been adjusted to expand the range while the HIGH has been adjusted to be much brighter than the original to give darker amps a bit more snarl if needed.
Frequency cut rotary - 12 position rotary switch adjusts the cutoff frequency by switching between cap values ranging from 470pf to 470n. In conjunction with the 4 band tone control this pedal has the ability to produce tones ranging from Swedish chainsaw to fuzz doom tones and lots of others in between.
Clip toggle - the original HM-2 germanium diode bridge and hard clipping symmetrical diode section can be toggled on or off as preferred. The germanium diode coring circuit functions as a very basic but important noise gate and the added hard clipping silicon diodes delivers a distortion characteristic to the overall tone.
Blend - The blend control allows players to dial in the exact amount of desired HM-2 EQ tone. Players can take today's modern tones and pair them with the HM-2 tones of the past to create new sounds which are a culmination of all the gear involved.
32 Volt Headroom - A charge pump circuit has been added to double the standard 9 volt pedal power and increase the overall EQ headroom and performance of the integrated circuits which operate better on higher voltage. No special power supply is required, a standard 9V pedal power supply will work with this stompbox.
*Note* This pedal runs on a standard 9 Volt centre negative power supply which is not provided, for suggestions on power supplies see the info section.
