HAXAN is a Swedish chainsaw style distortion based on the Arion Metal Master. It is one of best HM-2 clones and arguably even sounds better than the original.
The big appeal of the Metal Master is the added low end which a lot of players find is lacking in the HM-2. Of course it wouldn't be true chainsaw tone without the snarly mid highs that gives the Swedish chainsaw its signature tone, this pedal brings that grit and then some.
The internal mid trimmers for frequency and Q can get into both metal master and HM-2 territory which makes this like 2 pedals in 1. These trimmer pots can be adjusted to make the overall tone thin and nasally or thick and woofy.
This pedal doubles as a signal buffer. A Klon style buffered bypass was added to squash the oscillation feedback that happens with true bypass high gain pedals.
